But at least I’ll get there fast.

Kinja'd!!!

The above is a Kawasaki JetSki STX15F that I would love to buy.

160 horsepower, 1500cc 4 cylinder, 4 stroke, has reverse and off power steering. Reported around 70 mph top speeds.

It may not be now, and it may not be this ski, but I think I’m diving in this spring and this is a bad ass option.

You could not pay me to go 70 mph on that thing.

hahahahaha I’ve cracked 70 mph on a supercharged SeaDoo before. Was amazingly fun, though I also figured I was 1 tiny wave from getting launched off so I slowed down. It wasn’t my ski either so I was a bit more cautious with it.

Don’t. Wait until late summer or buy now if you can handle it. Prices jump in the spring.

Yeah, problem with buying now is there’s zero chance of a test run and limited availability. Problem with buying at the end of the summer is torture because you use it once and have to winterize.

It’s a challenging balance of availability, cost and patience. There’s not a ton on the market right now.

I think I’ve been 55 and it’s great fun blasting across a pretty tame lake. Money can’t buy happiness but it can’t buy a jet ski and I’ve never seen someone drowning in a jet ski.

it is a new unit...retails for like 20K CAD>

But I get the feeling if you put in an offer of 16K OTD manager might jump on it

I’m more in the used market than new unfortunately. I just converted my budget to Canadian and it puts me around 6,200 Maple Leaves. I’d be happy to deal with bringing it home from Canada but I don’t think he’d be happy to deal with my 6,200 offer hahaha

I do....this is for family fun time over the summer though. With a plan to have the Rally Capri ready around Fall to race that through Fall, Winter, Spring then back to the water in the summer on a ski.

I’ve fallen off of standup ski’s at 50mph+ and other than a pulled muscle here and there I was never really seriously injured. As long as you don’t collide with solid objects you are usually fine.

source: I raced jetski’s.

When I cracked 70 on that SeaDoo I was on Lake Huron and unfamiliar with the shore line on a borrowed ride at my old Boss’s house. I was a lot more concerned with the SeaDoo than I was with my self haha.

That’s awesome you used to race them, my experiences have all been sit downs and I’ve actually never fallen off one, despite riding in about 3 foot waves once. I’m naturally good enough at riding that the Boss used to have me teach other people how to use it and coach them because he didn’t feel like getting in the water. I don’t even have a boater’s license (which are required in Michigan and I’ll get one pretty easily if I purchase) and it was only my 2nd or 3rd time on a PWC.

Yeah, I still don’t have that boaters license either, I should get on that. WEIRD thing is, if you want to buy a 30ft boat, no need. But a jetski? Yes.

If you ever get a chance, the stand-ups are definitely fun! 300's, 440's, 550's are the bottom of the barrel. 650's are okay-ish, 750's are a ton of fun, especially the twin-carb models, the slide around easily. 800's are great for racing, they handle like they are on rails compared to any of the aforementioned. And that’s just Kawasaki’s, I’m less learned when it comes to Yamaha Superjets.

Yeah hysterically if you’re over 40 they figure you’re fine to operate a PWC without a boaters license but yeah a 30 footer is fine. Last I checked a 30+ foot boat will do a lot more damage if pointed the wrong way.

Stand-ups sound like a ball but the chain of lakes I’ll be on tends to have a bunch of slow no wake zones to go through before you can get cranking. And the impression I get is that stand ups are not great for that environment. I’ve also considered little jet boats but those break like crazy from what I’ve seen (more so than PWC’s) and the group I’d be going out with already includes 2 pontoons and a small speedboat, a jetski would bring something different to the party and the kids would go nuts for rides on it.

I had bought a ‘95 SeaDoo XP when I was about 19 or 20 years old. My cousin bought a three seater, can’t remember the model, shortly after that. I think we each only spent about $1,000 and they were rough machines, but I’ve never had so much fun in my life.

That sounds scary. The only jet ski I’ve us d was a 600 from the 90s and it was fast enough for me.

Feel free to go test drive it in these cold waters for me and let me know how it runs lol.

If I buy it, it’ll come back to Michigan with me.

Amazing isn’t it? If they could just flippity flop that rule, that’d be great.

More modern stand-ups are okay in no-wake zones, they are pretty buoyant, so you can ride them pretty comfortably at slow speeds, even sitting down if you like.

Agreed on jet boats, my friend had one and he was always working on it, I also just about died on one. I was sitting in the way front (where the up-down action is the most extreme) and he was driving it like a mad man through lake michigan waves near south haven, do not want to repeat.

I like go fast.

I’ve cracked 70 mph on a jetski before and it’s so much fun, need smooth water for those speeds though.
